These pubs and restaurants in and around Swansea pride themselves on serving up a quality roast dinner - usually on a Sunday - with sides that include crispy roasties and top-class gravy. There was a good selection of vegetables, including carrots, peas, cabbage, swede and a superb cauliflower cheese.

Plus, there was parsnips, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes and stuffing. Desserts include the likes of dark chocolate and raspberry mousse, apple strudel, and a very fine chocolate fudge cake. This pub also has an impressive-looking children's play area outside, although unfortunately, it was chucking it down with rain when we visited. It is housed in the clubhouse, which offers comfortable surroundings, with a view across the green. Ben's Kitchen is at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club On the day of our visit, turkey, beef, gammon and pork were all available on the carvery, and between us we tried everything, except click here pork.

All of the meats impressed us, though my favourite would have to be the deliciously sweet gammon. The Yorkshire puddings were nice and big, and the right combination of crispy and chewy. Vegetables included carrots, parsnips, broccoli, peas, mange tout, red cabbage, and wonderful cauliflower cheese. There was a very good ratatouille, too, which you don't see very often on a carvery.

Everything was cooked well, and there's certainly no shortage of choice. It's a good idea to leave room for dessert, though - especially the delicious go here cheesecake!
