Posted at AM, Aug 10, and last updated Good late morning or early afternoon, Thunderstorms developed around an interesting storm system that is tracking slowly across eastern and northeastern Kansas. These have not been severe thunderstorms, and we will be monitoring them closely over the next few hours.

There is also a weak cold front moving our way from the north. These two things will collide with high humidity to create the conditions for thunderstorms. The front is expected to move into western Illinois around 8 pm and exit into Indiana by 2 am. Below is a forecast showing the storms developing along the front during the evening in Missouri and racing east across Illinois. Values of 1 or greater indicate an increased potential for right-moving supercells, should storms fire or move into the region highlighted by the supercell composite index.
