The National Drug Authority's Quality Control Laboratory has received the ISO 17025 Accreditation award for testing of male latex condoms. Uganda is the second country in East and Central Africa to receive the internationally recognized accreditation by the American ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
Ms. Annette Ssenkindu, Ag. Head of the Quality Control Laboratory says, the achievement is another additional milestone to the testing of drugs and medical devices, especially after having attained the WHO Prequalification recognition in January 2015. "This is indeed another assurance that the NDA implements acceptable a quality management system which produces accurate and reliable test results of human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and other health products" said Ms. Ssenkindu.
Congratulating staff upon the achievement, Ms. Donna Kusemererwa, Secretary to the Authority says, this gives a further assurance to the entire population that the products locally manufactured or imported into Uganda that are tested by NDA and released to the market are of good quality, safe and effective.
The Secretary to the Authority thanked the Minister of Health, Chairperson, Members of the Authority, management and entire staff of NDA for the support and tireless efforts that enabled attaining the ISO 17025 Accreditation award.
